Pilates is beneficial for all ages and ability levels because it is a low impact exercise program that emphasizes core strength, stability, flexibility, and correct alignment of the pelvis and spine. Each exercise is designed to target specific muscles, and breathing techniques are used to effectively cue the abdominals to support each movement. Because exercises are executed with control, focus, and precision, students gain a greater sense of body awareness, balance, and overall wellness.

What Should I wear?
Tight fitting clothing should be worn so the instructor is able to see your body movement, alignment, and provide accurate corrections. Pilates is generally practiced in bare feet, but socks are acceptable. Avoiding clothes with zippers is best in order to protect the upholstery on any equipment being used.
Where are classes held?
Group equipment classes and private lessons are held at Loudoun Pilates in Leesburg. I also offer in-home private lessons within a 10 mile radius of Purcellville, VA. Please inquire about lessons outside of this radius.
What if I’ve never done Pilates?
For those that are new to Pilates or exercise in general, I usually advise that it is best to start with a few private lessons in order to evaluate any injuries and risks, introduce you to the Pilates fundamentals and make sure you are performing the exercises correctly and safely. Once you become comfortable with the basics, then you will be able to jump into a group class!
